Frontemare Restaurant, located in the scenic seaside town of Quartu Sant'Elena (Cagliari), Sardinia, offers a dining experience that combines stunning views of the Mediterranean with a menu focused on fresh, high-quality local ingredients. During my visit, I was immediately struck by the location's ambiance — modern and chic, yet comfortable, with large windows that frame the breathtaking coastline. Whether you're seated indoors or on the outdoor terrace, the sea breeze and sunset views create an atmosphere perfect for a relaxed meal.

The menu at Frontemare reflects Sardinia’s rich culinary tradition, with an emphasis on seafood, naturally. I started my meal with an assortment of appetizers, including fritto misto, a mix of lightly fried calamari and prawns. The seafood was incredibly fresh, with a delicate balance of flavors that allowed the natural taste of the sea to shine through.

For the main course, I opted for their spaghetti alle vongole e bottarga (spaghetti with clams and bottarga). The dish was simple yet masterfully executed, with the sweetness of the clams perfectly complemented by a light garlic and a tasteful grated bottarga. The pasta was cooked to perfection, maintaining a firm texture that absorbed the flavors of the dish without being overpowered by them.

The service at Frontemare is another highlight worth mentioning. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations based on seasonal availability and pairing suggestions with local wines. They were friendly without being intrusive, striking the right balance between professionalism and warmth.

One of the unique aspects of Frontemare is its ability to cater to a range of dining experiences. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner by the sea, a casual lunch after a day at the beach, or a special celebration, the restaurant provides a versatile setting. The atmosphere is lively yet not too noisy, making it easy to have a conversation while enjoying your meal.

For dessert, I couldn’t resist the tiramisu scomposto, a blend of the ingredients of the tiramisu (coffee, savoiardi and cream), served separately.

Overall, Frontemare Restaurant is an ideal spot for anyone looking to experience authentic Sardinian cuisine in a setting that highlights the island’s natural beauty. The combination of fresh seafood, attentive service, and a picturesque location makes it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Quartu Sant'Elena. Whether you're a foodie looking to explore Sardinian specialties or just someone in search of a memorable meal by the sea, Frontemare delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially during peak tourist season, as this hidden gem is a favorite among both locals and visitors alike.
